I love photographing newborns, and especially photographing newborns with their family. The first few days and weeks go by so fast and your beautiful newborn won't stay teeny tiny for long! Those precious first few days are such a special time for everyone, and there is no better way to capture the memories than booking an at-home newborn session. You'll treasure the photos for a lifetime.

What is a lifestyle newborn session?

At-home lifestyle sessions are tailored to suit you and your newborn. I will come to your house and photograph you and your newborn in your own home. Newborns are unpredictable so I always let them lead. You do not have to worry about your baby crying or needing to be fed - this is life with a newborn and I'll be there to capture those moments. A newborn lifestyle session lasts from 1.5-2 hours to make sure the baby can have as many nappy changes and feeds as they need. Because we let the baby lead, if the session needs to take a bit longer, then thats what we do.

It’s a stress free way to have your newborn photography session done. Especially if you are still recovering from the birth or if you've had a C section and don't fancy leaving the house so soon. It also lets you capture all the details of your beautiful newborn - the nursery, the gifts, the teeny tiny baby clothes. And if there are siblings involved, it makes for a better experience for them too. They are more comfortable in their own home and it allows me to get the best from them too.

Where will we take the pictures?

I mostly shoot in the living room, master bedroom and nursery. Don't worry about your home being tidy! You have just had a baby so that will be the last thing on your mind. Don't worry about clutter, I can move things out of the way and be creative with angles. The only thing I ask is that you have your curtains and blinds pulled back to let in as much natural light as possible and that you have a neutral duvet cover on your bed in the master bedroom - beds make for great cuddly family photos! Other than that, I can move things out of the way if I have to (don't worry, I will put everything back in its place before I leave). I can also take some pictures outside - weather permitting.

If your newborn has siblings, I will start by photographing them and doing the full family shots. That saves children getting bored and losing interest. If you have any pets, I love to incorporate them in the photos too. After that I will take pictures of the baby with parents and then pictures of baby alone. While some of these will be posed, I let the baby lead and settle in positions they are comfortable in.

What should we wear?

Keep it neutral. Whites, light creams, grey and pastels work best. Stay away from patterns and any logos as they stand out in photos and you want the focus to be on your newborn. For your newborn, plain white baby grows and just a nappy are best. If you have a special outfit or something you really love then of course we can use this.

If you have any special blankets or teddies I am happy to use these. I will bring a selection of my own beautiful, soft blankets and wraps to use during the session too.

When should I book?

I take on a limited number of newborns each month so I can give each newborn the time and attention they deserve. Babies come when they are often least expected so I need to make sure I can be flexible. To ensure I can capture your newborn, it is best to book after your 20 week scan. Then all you do is get in touch when your new bundle arrives and we can schedule a day and time which suits you. Newborns are best photographed in the first 5-14 days. Not only are they still sleepy, but they grow so fast that why wouldn't you want to capture those tiny fingers and tiny toes in their first few days. But the beauty of at home newborn sessions is that we are capturing your new family at home, so as long as you are happy then thats all that matters.

How much does it cost?

Step 1: Book your session. To book your session, a session fee of £99 is required. This includes our time spent together during the shoot and the editing of the final images you receive in your gallery. It also includes one A4 print of your favourite image from the session.

Step 2: Pick your package. Within 10 days of your session, you will receive a beautiful online gallery of your 30-40 fully edited images. Once you have viewed your gallery, you can choose the package you would like from the 3 below.
